Central
Coast
| Central Coast wine growing stretches back all the way
to the 18th Century. It first started by the Mission then much later
joined in by the commercial counterpart. However, the commercial
vineyards and wineries only come to the region about a century later
which produce only very little wine. It was around the 1970s to
1980s that it eventually increased to about 1,000,000 cases per year
by just a single producer - one of the largest in the region. |

Grape Varieties grown in Central
Coast
Due to the influence of the ocean, the cooling environment was ideal
for growing Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Zinfandel.
